Salzone Family

Sam was born in Calabria in Italy, and migrated with his parents to Australia at the age of 3. His early boyhood years were spent growing up in North Fitzroy.

During this period while Sam was still in primary school, Sam developed a passion for football. He followed his local VFL team, Fitzroy Football Club, and later on continued to follow The Brisbane Lions after the merger.

The Growing Years

The family relocated to Reservoir when Sam was a teenager. It was during these teenage years that Sam found a love for music, discovering Blues and starting a school band with fellow students calling the band “South City Union”.

As a young adult, Sam became a dog enthusiast and for a while bred and showed Dobermanns. After a back injury which curtailed physical activity, Sam was no longer able to train his dogs, however being an animal lover Sam took on breeding and showing budgerigars.

Home and Family

Sam married Jennifer Maree Salzone in 1978 and they had three children.

Sam was widowed in 2016 after Jenny passed away.

He is the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, two granddaughter’s & two grandson’s. In March 2017 his grandson Vance was born to Mathew & Melanie,  sadly Vance passed away 12/01/2018.

In April 2017 Sam formed a new partnership with long-term business associate Janara and is now on a new life journey.

Professional Life

On the professional level, Sam has been involved in retail sales with the home furnishing industry since 1976, and has been employed with Berkowitz Furniture since November 1988.

In the 1990’s Sam became interested in computers and taught himself graphic design. This is where Salzone Graphics was born. As the business grew, Sam created Web101 Group, offering website design and web hosting.

In 2005, Sam rekindled his Music passion again, and formed a blues band, Synergy Blue. This was followed by Cargo Blues Band, and Sam also brands himself under Smokin Sam.

Where I Am Now

Sam’s love for music and the blues inspired a vision to found a blues club in the Northern Suburbs, and after talking to a few other blues music enthusiasts became the founder of The Hume Blues Club Inc.
