Meet Sam

Born in beautiful Italy,Reggio Calabria, in the small town of Taurianova, Sam migrated to Australia with his family in 1957 at just three years of age. Those early beginnings shaped the strong family values he carries to this day.
Sam is a proud father of three wonderful children and a grandfather to five amazing grandchildren. Family has always been at the heart of everything he does.

From 1976 to 2021, Sam built a long and successful career in retail sales, specialising in the home furnishing industry. Over 45 years, he earned a reputation for dedication, outstanding customer service, and deep industry knowledge.

In the 1990s, Sam discovered a new and exciting passion — computers. Fascinated by the digital world, he taught himself graphic and web design, launching his own creative venture, Web101 Group. What began as curiosity soon became another proud achievement in his diverse career journey.
In June 2021, Sam officially retired from retail — but slowing down was never part of his plan.
His love for music reignited in 2005 when he began performing under the name Smokin' Sam. Music had always been close to his heart, and performing allowed him to reconnect with that passion in a powerful and fulfilling way.
Then, in 2014, inspired to unite blues lovers in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs, Sam founded The Hume Blues Club Inc. After connecting with fellow blues enthusiasts, he created a vibrant community space dedicated to celebrating and supporting live blues music.

Today, Sam remains deeply involved in the music scene. Whether performing, organising events, or supporting fellow musicians, his passion for the blues continues to bring people together — proving that retirement is simply the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
